Middle School
Why do we do confirmation? The ultimate purposes of confirmation are to develop maturing Christian young people and to help young people love Jesus the way he loves them.
6th-8th grade confirmation classes meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:55am. This time includes breakfast, small groups, and a lesson and discussion time.
6th Grade “Pre-Confirmation”: This class does not have as many expectations as the older classes. The 6th grade Pre-Confirmation year centers around providing a solid overview of the Bible. On Friday, May 10th, from 6-9pm, 6th grade students and parents will participate in a Faith Stepping Stone class called “Surviving Adolescence” followed by a lock-in for the 6th grade class.
7th and 8th Grades This year, the 7th and 8th grade confirmation classes are meeting separately (aside from 5 weeks when Pastor Jennifer taught the two classes together). Each class is participating in the E100 with the congregation. YOUTH GROUP St. John’s will host four Sunday evening Fellowship Nights for all ages this program year: October 21 January 27 March 3 April 28 These evenings will begin at 5:15pm with a church-wide potluck followed by age-specific activities that will run from 6:00-7:00pm, including: Middle School Youth Group— Youth Group is a time for middle schoolers to enjoy each other’s company without the pressure of a classroom setting. The students play games, do crazy activities, and learn important values together. This is a significant time for teens and pre-teens as they form lasting friendships with their peers and with adults.
YOUTH QUAKE April 12-14, we’ll head to the Dells for a gathering of middle schoolers from around the Midwest. We’ll stay in a hotel, have fun hanging out, worship together with great bands, hear from powerful speakers, and learn valuable lessons in workshops designed just for middle schoolers.
SUMMER CAMP AT LUTHERDALE Youth have so much fun when they spend a week at Lutherdale in the summer. A variety of camps are offered throughout the summer to fit your interests and your calendar. Look for the flyers on the lobby bulletin board. Click here for more info. |
