Baptism

Baptism is God’s gift to us, establishing a relationship with us that

begins now and extends into life eternal.  In baptism God says to us, “You are mine.

I love you and I will never let you go.”  That means that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love in Jesus Christ, as the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 8.

It doesn’t matter what we’ve done or left undone and it doesn’t matter how far we have walked away from God.  God never walks away from us.

Baptism also gives us  the job description for our lives:  “love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”  (Luke 10:27)  Being a child of God then sets the course for our lives.

If you are interested in learning about baptism for yourself or for your child, the pastors ask that you join one of them for a 1-hour baptism preparation meeting.  This meeting can take place at the church with other families looking at baptism, or can take place at a coffee shop or in your home, at an agreed time.  Following that meeting, a baptism will be scheduled to take place during one of the three worship services that St. John’s offers each weekend.
