St. John’s encourages all members to be engaged in the life of the congregation. Besides attending worship, this involves finding ways to use your unique gifts to provide care and service to others through the many opportunities provided within the congregation, in the local community, or even globally. Taking time for individual growth and learning is also encouraged. Following are some of the Learning and Growing opportunities for the men of St. John’s.
MEN’S MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
The following opportunities are provided to help men grow in their relationship with God and other Christian men:
Lutheran Men in Mission is hosting a One Year to Live Retreat March 24-26, 2017.
This event is being held at Pine Lake Camp in Waupaca, WI.

Saturday Morning Men’s Group – This group meets every Saturday morning during the school year from 8:00 to 9:15 a.m. in the Ruth and Naomi room downstairs. It is a time to grow in our relationship with God and other Christian men through book discussion. The group alternates from discussing a book of interest and discussing books of the Bible. As an example, some recent books discussed include:
The Language of God by Francis S. Collins
Turning Points, Decisive Moments in the History of the Church by Mark A. Noll
Christianity after Religion by Diana Butler Bass
Making Sense of Scripture by David Lose
Contact Ralph Berglund (phone 262-547-8231) if you would like more information.
Men’s Christmas Breakfast – A St. John’s tradition older than many of us, we get together for some food, fellowship, celebration, and inspiration each Christmas season for a Men’s Christmas Breakfast a Saturday in December in the fellowship hall at church. ALL are welcome. Fathers are encouraged to bring their sons. Watch for details as the season approaches.
MEN’S FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The St. John’s softball team participates in a men’s league that plays against other churches in the area. The league has two divisions, Wirth Park and Elm Grove, each with eight teams. St. John’s plays in the Wirth Park Division, which consists of (3) Spring Creek teams, (2) Elmbrook teams, (2) Brookfield Lutheran teams, and St. John’s. Click here for standings.
