Why do we do confirmation?

Confirmation is the process through which we share our faith stories and traditions with our middle school youth as they mature in their Christian faith and claim as their own the promises of Holy Baptism.

Confirmation Overview

5th & 6th Graders/Sunday School

The 5th & 6th grade Pre-Confirmation year will provide a solid overview of the Bible focusing on conversations and lessons matching the weekly Bible readings in worship. If students do not yet have a Bible, please contact the office to get one. The class meets on Sunday mornings during the education hour.

7th and 8th grade/Confirmation

The 7th and 8th-grade confirmation classes will meet on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:00. In these two years, students will study Martin Luther, the Ten Commandments, Faith in Life, the Apostle's Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Sacraments. Using a curriculum based in Luther’s Small Catechism, the classes will learn how a Lutheran faith built in their lives today is rooted in ancient teachings. This class is taught by Pastor Brian.

In addition to weekly classes, students are expected to attend and participate in worship with their families, complete worship notes, and participate as able in the Youth Leadership Team.

9th Grade Confirmation Year – and CONFIRMATION DAY

In fall, students begin to work toward their day of Confirmation in May.

There are 4 things in which students participate:

              • Selecting and meeting with an adult mentor

              • Attend a fall day retreat with their mentor, concluding with a yoking ceremony

              • Attend a winter overnight retreat with their mentor

              • Attend High School youth group Sunday mornings.

In May our students participate in the Affirmation of Baptism Service.

Congrats to our 2019 Confirmands!
